The geology of Jordan...

... is excessively varied and complex. The country's position near the Rift Valley Fault enables the observation of different kinds of phenomena. In addition, the presence of a sea in very early days can be noticed through layers of deposits and, damaged by erosion, these layers bring to light many kinds of geological treasures. The human and cultural development of Jordan depends largely on the geology, from the earliest times to the present days. We give here a short and simplified introduction to geology, however it reports in no way the complexity of the subject.
