The Arabian Bulbul
(pycnonotus xanthopygos)

A little smaller than a turdus merula, the Arabian bulbul is a familiar bird that stays close to the dwellings, in the gardens and the orchards. We find it from Turkey to Saudi Arabia. It is sedentary. It has a black head. Its eyes are surrounded by an orbital white circle. Its body is brown-grey with a lighter abdomen, with yellow undertail...

...feathers. Males and females are similar, except that males are more yellow under the tail. It feeds on insects and fruit and may therefore cause damage on fruit trees. Its song is a melodious and easily recognizable chirping.
